Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actor and presenter. Vergara was the highest paid actress on American television between 2013 until 2020.Vergara gained notoriety when hosting two shows on the Spanish-language TV network Univision in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was Vergara's first significant acting gig in English. Later, she appeared in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Come To Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. She was first seen as Gloria Delgado–Pritchett in ABC's comedy series Modern Family, for which she received nominations for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and eleven Screen Actor Guild Awards. She also had voice-over roles in the animated films Happy Feet Two (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013), and The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was born to an Roman Catholic family in Barranquilla. Vergara's mom Margarita Vergara Devergara was a housewife while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as an animal rancher in the meat industry. By her five siblings, as well as many of her cousins, she was named "Toti". Vergara was a first-year student at the National University of Colombia in dentistry. She left after two semesters to pursue opportunities for modeling and show business.
